PLEASE NOTE: This lot was sold in an online benefit auction where all proceeds went to the Whyte Museum in Banff, Alberta and there was no Buyer's Premium.; With Photoshop, I manipulate images through a layering process where each image is comprised of numerous textures, filters and individually, digitally-cut flowers. I then create a space that unfolds through depth by accumulating stratums of light, transparency and opacity. Often the choice of images is instinctive and random in nature. This interweaving of imagery creates a synergy of the natural elements and presents them in a way that is new and fresh. Nature is creative, thus there is order and disorder in these intricate compositions.

PLEASE NOTE: This lot was sold in an online benefit auction where all proceeds went to the Whyte Museum in Banff, Alberta and there was no Buyer's Premium.; According to the artist: I like to imagine earlier days when Catharine and Peter Whyte and other artist, explorers and mountaineers experienced stunning Rocky Mountain gems like Sunshine Meadows and how we all have been impacted by their challenges, beauty and sublime impressions. This Polaroid with pastel was initially created en plein air while responding to a sense of place through my feelings, the scenery, geography, weather and wildlife [mosquitoes!]. Later, the manipulated Polaroid was photographed or scanned and then printed as an enlarged photograph. As an artist and mountaineer I find these outdoor experiences to be a meditative and timeless process that often create a powerful spiritual awareness and vivid memories.

Title Christopher Green - Hudson's Bay Camp Knife
Media high carbon steel with brass and wood handle
Size 13.75 x 2.25 in. / 34.9 x 5.7 cm.
Notes
ESTIMATED RETAIL VALUE $1,100 - knife and sheath are both signed with monogram; lot includes Latigo [sheath]; letter of authenticity included with lot
Reference
According to the artist; 'This blade is inspired by the mountain people of Banff. The design is based off a Hudson's Bay camp knife that was popular during the early 1800s to 1870s. I can imagine a knife such as this riding on the hip of Bill Peyto, along for one of his adventures. The blade is forged from 200-year-old wagon wheel wrought iron that has been combined with a high carbon steel for a strong cutting edge. The handle has brass bolsters and domed brass pins. The wood is 3600 year old bog oak; both of these materials are lined with a fibreglass product called Glo. The sheath is hand stitched latigo leather, a process that makes it weather resistant. The leather is lined with vegetable tanned leather and accented with Bison.'
