Artist Statement: 'Almost home' was painted after an inspiring hike up, around and into the upper Margaret Falls. It has series of peak a views through the forest and into the gem of flowing water below that lends itself to painting. I endeavoured to capture the feeling of being amazed by creation revealed with luscious colour, and bold and strokes of paint to remind me of the comfort of our future home in heaven.

Artist Statement: I’m fascinated by the history of photography and the science of light and how different devices change our perception of time and space. My work challenges the view of photography as a way to capture an instant in time. Viewers have said that my work evokes the memory-image that remains for them long after they have viewed a familiar location. I think this recognizes the importance I have always assigned to time, memory, and capturing the essence of the place, in my images of architectural icons and classic travelers’ destinations

Artist Statement: From imaginary meridian lines to fencing our yards humans attempt to control and order their world. Over time, these scars and marks can appear as arbitrary as those found in nature. The result is a combination of abstract, imagined and real. The physical hieroglyphics of human occupation and development is represented as grids and the meandering chaos of marks imposed by natural changes creates these images. Influenced by the tradition of painting on site, observed landscapes are fused into new overviews of change. Incorporating mans encroachment into the natural environment speaks of a history that maps land use. The images highlight the determination of human occupation and development and the persistence of nature. All these works on Lexan are done as aerial views from the experience of hiking, flying in commercial planes as well as rides in smaller planes and even helicopters. Washes of paint are layered and intertwined with mixed media. Patterns found in the frottage of chain link fences, chicken wire, steel grates, meshes, grids and other recovered or found material further interrupt the painted passages. Lexan gives these images a translucent ethereal feel that relates to how light affects colour and form. These images may be viewed as individual they are adhered to acrylic and mounted 2 inches from the wall or in grids mounted 6 inches apart.

Artist Statement: This line of work is perhaps my most personally born(e). It started as an investigation into my abdominal surgeries. But it also became about having that natural ‘cleavage’ between my legs and everything it brought; that piece of personal property commonly referred to as a woman’s box. For materials: from the art supply store I worked at I collected 60 ml. plastic paint tube boxes and to fill them I chose plaster, which is a wonderfully firm yet soft ‘plastic’ medium that holds any marks made into its surface once set. And as I soon learned, it was almost ‘flesh-like’ to dig into. I used acrylic paints the boxes held to mark the passage of my [paint laden] finger tip, as I made often just one long stroke through each small box of freshly setting plaster; the trail of colour marking the movement of materials through each cut. I tried a number of different colours, starting with (Phthalo) blue, knowing It to be a strong blue that would show up well. But on mixing with the plaster, a series of boxes with the most soft and delicate markings arrived. Later on, some boxes given further adornments and others were left as they were 'innocently born', such as those 'blues'. Each of these boxes is unique to itself and carries its own journey, but in a group they carry a more powerful presence. I chose to show this particular series using Dioxazine Purple because the plaster filled cardboard tube boxes are simply 'steadier on their feet', as it goes. The previous set plaster boxes were easily removed from the form they were set in but the cardboard ones fused with the plaster poured inside. These are the last boxes created. The title ‘Buenos Notches’ was chosen to add further reflection on 'cultural norms'. Our struggle for bodily autonomy continues.
