Biographical Information
Donna Gallant ~ [20th century] Canadian
Donna Gallant was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan. She has resided in Lethbridge since 1971. She attended the University of Lethbridge’s BFA program from 1976-1981.She worked as Gallery Coordinator/Director for 18 years at the Bowman Arts Centre. She has taught art since 1980 for the Lethbridge Allied Arts Council, Casa, both Senior centres, Michael’s, and other Southern Alberta organizations.
She had her first solo exhibition in 1985 and has had 16 solo exhibitions since then. She has been in over 60 group exhibitions across Canada and several two, three, and five person Shows.
She was a founding member of the Radish Factory (Artist-run Organization), a member of the International Monoprinters Guild, the Southern Alberta Art Gallery, the Old man Outdoor Painters (OOPS), the Group with No Name (life drawing), the Allied Arts Council of Lethbridge, the Leighton Center, Trap/door, International Society of Artists and CARFAC.
She has also curated over 10 traveling exhibitions for both solo and group exhibits as well as the AFA granting program. She continues to jury for county fairs and exhibitions throughout Alberta.
Her works can be found in collections such as the AFA, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Lethbridge Regional Hospital, and private collections throughout North America, Europe, South Africa, and Japan.
