according to the consignor: this original lithograph, of Newtown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, was issued in a limited edition for subscribers to The Colophon to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the Lithograph; printed directly from the stone; as per Elmer Adler, 'In the printing of this lithograph the stone was re-inked by hand roller for each impression, just as Senefelder developed the process. Benton Spruance of Philadelphia, who was commissioned to make the sesquicentennial print for The New Colophon, received the first prize for a lithograph at the Sixth National Exhibition of Prints this year, at the Library of Congress. The sketch for the print was made at Newtown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The paper is all rag, Italian made.'
