printed inscription 'This portrait is of a Blackfoot Indian from the Gleichen, Alberta, Indian Reservation. His name is Turning Robe, and he was approximately 65 years of age when the portrait was made. The ornaments on his braids are special shells from the Gulf of Mexico and have been handed down for generations as family jewellery or a talisman.' on label verso)
